The Grand Union Tramway Junction is of National significance as the only remaining example of its type. It is the most complex junction that can be established at a crossroads, involving turns in all four directions. First established in December 1913 by the Prahran & Malvern Tramways Trust, it recalls the early days of the tram system when routes were developing and special services, such as from Caulfield race days, were common.
